Square 28
The Prestonville Millennium street Party, the Prestonville Post and the Mobile Library.

Designed and made by Sara Cook with embroidery by Jannet King.

This was the last square to be made as we had hoped to have a contribution from Windlesham School (private). I chose to celebrate different aspects of the community, which are valued by local residents.

Starting at the top with the Millennium Community Festival which brought large numbers of the community together in a truly memorable day. This design was used for the Millennium mugs. Below is a typical front cover of the Prestonville Post , the Community Association newsletter which goes to around 2000 households and is always greeted with a lot of enthusiasm. I chose to depict the issue, which included a sketch of the Millennium quilt on the front cover. Jannet who has been involved with the newsletter for some time embroidered the lettering (instead of typing it this time).

Below is the Mobile Library which stops outside the Exeter Street Hall and is used by the Little Fishes pre-school and members of the community. I used bondaweb to apply the shapes cut from cotton fabrics and defined the details with machine embroidery. Jannet King was responsible for all the handwork
