Square 2
Coventry Street

Designed by Catherine Cole
Made by Maz Miller
Embroidery by Val Kinast

Maz, who has lived in Coventry Street for 42 years and is a retired seamstress, decided to join in the project when she read about it in the Prestonville Post. She thought it seemed like a good idea and that it would be a chance to meet her neighbours.

"It was suggested to me that I could depict Coventry Street. Great I thought, but I'll do the side without steps leading up to the front doors."

All the fabrics used were 100% cotton, some of which came from friends who were keen to help.

"I photocopied Catherine's design and cut out each section and pieced it together. I used bondaweb to apply the windows and doors, which Val embroidered around later with embroidery floss. The rest was hand stitched. It took me about 2 months to finish. I enjoyed working together as a group and seeing the quilts taking shape."
